Why Your Evolution D5 Golf Cart Needs a Custom Scorecard Holder (And How We Fixed It)

If you own an Evolution D5 Golf Cart—whether it's a Ranger or a Maverick—you already know it is an incredible machine. With its automotive-style dash, luxury seating, and massive touchscreen, it feels more like a premium vehicle than a traditional golf cart.

But there is one glaring problem that almost every Evolution D5 owner discovers the hard way the second they pull up to the first tee box: The D5 wasn't actually built for golf. Unlike standard Club Cars or EZGOs, the Evolution D5 steering wheel completely lacks a built-in scorecard holder. If you want to keep score, you're forced to keep it somewhere else.

Recently, a customer approached us at Zevran with this exact frustration, and we knew we had to engineer a solution.

The Problem: The "Passenger Problem"

When we first looked at the customer's Evolution cart, they had a very specific request. They didn't just want a clip slapped onto the steering wheel. They wanted a scorecard holder that could easily slide from the driver's side over to the passenger's side so the passenger could take over scorekeeping duties without awkwardly reaching across the steering column. We needed a solution that was modular, movable, and didn't require drilling holes into a beautiful new cart.

The Zevran Solution: Utilizing the Acrylic Windshield Lip

While examining the D5's architecture, we noticed the perfect mounting point: the lip of the acrylic windshield.

Instead of fighting with the steering column, we decided to design a custom mount that would securely grip the top edge of the windshield lip. This location keeps the scorecard at perfect eye-level, completely out of the way of the steering wheel, and allows it to move from the driver to the passenger side easily.

Rapid Prototyping & Real-World Testing

At Zevran, we specialize in rapid 3D printing and prototyping. We didn't just guess what would work—we 3D printed several different variations of a solution. We put these prototypes directly into the hands of our customer, listened to their feedback after a few rounds of golf, and iterated on the design until the customer got what they were looking for.

The Final Product

The result is the Evolution Golf Cart Scorecard Holder, available today on our website. It is specifically designed to mount onto the acrylic windshield lip of an Evolution D5 (or any other golf cart with a similar windshield lip structure). It features an integrated pencil holder, a clip for the scorecard, and can be installed or removed in two seconds with zero tools required.
